Imidacloprid

Imidocloprid is a neonicotinoid class insecticide that was developed by Bayer CropScience. It acts on the central nervous system of the target insect, specifically increasing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, causing it to become paralyzed. It is mostly used in agriculture pest control. Imidocloprid is currently the most commonly used insecticide globally. It can be used as a seed-treatment, soil injection, tree injection, and by applying it to the surface of the plant.

This neonicitinoid has been banned by the EU as of July 2014.
