Anthocyanin

Assemble a 3D chemical structure model of the cherry pigment Anthocyanin using Genuine Molymod Model Parts by Indigo Instruments

Anthocyanin is a plant pigment that gives cherries & other plants all or most of their characteristic bluish-red-purple color. It imparts relatively little taste to the fruit but is believed to be important in attracting potential pollinators.

The compound also may impart protection from strong sunlight. Note the extensive number of double bonds, similar to natural sunscreens like melanin or commerical ones like para aminobenzoic acid (PABA)

A molecular model of Anthocyanin in the Molymod Hybrid Dome style uses the atoms & bonds in the parts list below. Our free 3D Molecular Model Builder shows other styles & allows for image rotation as an assembly guide.
