Fabricate a 3D molecular structure model of Chlorpyrifos out of Authentic Molymod Components by Indigo Instruments
Chlorpyrifos is an insecticide, acaricide, & miticide. It is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor used to control soil borne pests. It is an organic thiophosphate based whose structure is classed as a chloropyridine.
Among the most common acetylcholinesterase inhibitors are phosphorus-based compounds, which are designed to bind to the active site of the enzyme. The structural requirements are a phosphorus atom bearing two lipophilic groups, a leaving group (such as a halide or thiocyanate), and a terminal oxygen.
For the past 20 years it was topic of debate and untlimately banned in 2021 in the US for use on food crops. Since then, ongoing litigation sees this ban still not in full force.
A molecular model of Chlorpyrifos in the Molymod Hybrid Dome style uses the atoms & bonds in the parts list below. Our free 3D Molecular Model Builder shows other styles & allows for image rotation as an assembly guide.
