Form a chemical structure model of the pesticide Clothianidin (Dantop) from Genuine Molymod Atoms & Bonds by Indigo.
Clothiandin is a neonicotinoid class insecticide that was developed by Takeda Chemical Industries. As a neonicotinoid, the chemical structure is similar to nicotine. It acts on the central nervous system of the target insect pest resulting in paralysis and eventual death. Clothiandin is currently used as a spray, soil drench, dust, seed treatment, and also as an injectable liquid. Clothiandin is an alternative to organophosphate, carbamate, and pyrethroid pesticides, and has helped to minimize the buildup of resistance by insect pests to organophosphate, carbamate, and pyrethroid.
This neonicitinoid has been banned by the EU as of July 2014.
See this study on bee "addiction" to neonicitinoids.
A molecular model of Clothianidin in the Molymod Hybrid Dome style uses the atoms & bonds in the parts list below. Our free 3D Molecular Model Builder shows other styles & allows for image rotation as an assembly guide.
