Pyrazole

Put together a molecular model of Pyrazole utilizing Genuine Molymod Components by indigoinstruments.com

Pyrazole is a simple 5 membered aromatic ring with 3 carbons & 2 nitrogens in adjacent positions. It has a structural isomer, imidazole, also with pyrrole and pyridine like nitrogen atoms. Compare it to other aromatic compounds with 2 nitrogens such as indazole and isoindazole.

Pyrazole's properties include aromaticity characterized by its planar ring structure and delocalized π-electrons & is weakly basic. It has two tautomeric forms, keto and enol & it can chelate metal ions which is useful in coordination chemistry. It can participate in substitution reactions, condensations, and cyclizations. Its derivatives have biological activity making it a useful precursor in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals & other compounds.
