What are Daphnia? Daphnia sp is an aquatic crustacean found in most bodies of freshwater. It ranges in size from 1-5mm and has distinctive large compound eyes. Many species have a clear carapace that allows ready observation of its beating heart making it a popular subject in basic biology labs.
