This 10x2.5x2.5mm (0.4x0.1x0.1") Nd rare earth bar magnet is an effective aid for laying out & firmly positioning model railroad train tracks. Use them for laying, spiking or joining straight & fixed curved track sections in turnouts, double crossovers, passing side tracks & more.

These magnets have a long, thin profile & can hide under roadbed ballast but are strong enough to ensure consistent, reliable connections for absolutely straight or custom curved tracks.

We have sold NdFeB magnets since 1996 and N42 grade since 2003, the best value for strength & temperature vs cost. Don't be fooled by claims of higher strength, N52, at lower cost.

What Customers Say About our Neodymium Magnets

[Actual Reviews on Google]

Roman Teliszczuk: Purchased neodymium magnets for work. The quality, price, packaging and delivery were excellent. I highly recommend Indigo Instruments.

Ron Bennett: Fantastic support and product. Beats Amazon price with real customer service. After online order was placed, they called and and asked if I had any questions and gave clear instructions on pickup process. Order was ready and in stock and the product was of the highest quality and exactly as described. Will buy other items from Indigo instruments.

Ian Kelly: I've dealt with Indigo Instruments for years now. They have always been personable and very knowledgeable. Most recently I sent them a hand-drawn sketch of my interpretation of something I saw on YouTube and wanted recommendations on what magnets to use. Chris called me up, discussed the project and made some recommendations. His recommendation was bang on. I couldn't be happier with the end product.

Tracy Myerson: Super fast shipping, excellent prices, and great quality product! I purchased N42 Neodymium magnets, they are the real deal. I had previously bought magnets on Amazon that were advertised as N52, they were just another cheap Chinese fake. These folks sell authentic, high quality stuff and get it to you fast. Highly recommended!

Peter Maran: Been doing business with Indigo for many years. Their Neodymium magnets are superb in quality and price. Other items, tools, magnifiers, tweezers, and so on, all quality made withstanding the test of time.

Great magnets. While I'm not a professional and have no tooling to attest to the accuracy of the data sheet, I strongly recommend them to anyone who needs a small magnet. The magnetic field is very strong, as expected of a neodymium magnet (I'm actually using the leftovers to hang screwdrivers and pliers on a steel bar), and the surface finish is absolutely fantastic - unbelievably smooth, and VERY scratch-resistant - making them the best friend of 3D printers (just don't forget to clean them a bit, because contaminants CAN still mess up your attempts). Though that smoothness and strength can, like most other neodymium magnets, make it a chore to split them apart - I'd recommend using a wedge to pull them apart, because smaller magnets are very easy to lose if they happen to be flung places. The delivery was much quicker than anticipated as well, and they arrived in perfect condition. The staff are incredibly easy to contact for questions. The price is very competitive, and with that quality of magnet (if the magnet quality carries over to other items), it's a great choice for hobbyist craftspeople, amateur engineers and professionals of all kinds alike. Overall, I'm definitely coming back here to get more magnets for projects, and you should be too.

— Indigo: Most of the time just sliding them apart will do. Big strong ones need a magnetic tool to separate.
