This Indigo® 17 base pair DNA Model is shipped partially assembled. Each base pair is mounted on a support layer & shipped with its support base & layer separators ready for final assembly. You need only buy the following which should be available in most hardware stores:

North America
1 x 3 foot long, 1/2" diameter threaded rod; 4 nuts; 4 washers

Outside North America
1 x 1 metre long, 12mm (or 12.5mm) diameter threaded rod; 4 nuts; 4 washers. 

Once delivery has been confirmed, we will arrange a mutually convenient time for a Skype or Zoom video chat session with you for final assembly. No experience with molecular modelling is required. Assembly is straightforward & should not take more than 30-45 minutes.

The base pairs are shipped pre-assembled because some of the atom-atom connections are strained & must be glued first. In addition, the assembled model is very bulky & incurs very expensive air freight charges for customers outside of North America. The price of this version is slightly less to reflect the cost of the hardware you need to buy but is greatly offset by the much cheaper air freight.

Your final assembled model will be identical to the fully assembled 17 base pair DNA model.
