This kit includes 2 sulfurs allowing you to build & compare L cysteine (the biologically important isomer) with D cysteine. Both have an a sidechain with a sulfhydryl group that is hydrophobic.

The thiol (-SH) group in cysteine is highly reactive and allows cysteine to form disulfide bonds (–S–S–). These help stabilize a protein's 3D structure of proteins which is critical in enzymes and antibodies. Cysteine is also essential in structural proteins such as keratin found in hair, nails, and skin & hormones such as insulin.
