Pyridoxine is a six-membered aromatic pyridine ring with various substitutions. It has a hydroxymethyl group (-CH2OH) attached at carbon 4, a hydroxyl group (-OH) carbon, and methyl group (-CH3) at carbon 3 of the pyridine ring.

Pyridoxine is one of three naturally occurring forms of vitamin B6 along with pyridoxal and pyridoxamine. Dietary vitamin B6 is converted by the liver into to its active coenzyme form, pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP), for use in amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and hemoglobin production.

Indigo Instruments has maintained a substantial inventory of genuine Cochranes of Oxford (Orbit) parts for 30+ years (scroll down to see "Skeletal (Orbit/Minit) and are compatible with every molecular model kit we have sold since day 1. This level of quality may appear expensive but no parts support from other vendors costs even more.

This kit can build the water soluble essential vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) but you can also construct it, along with other biomolecules, using our Class Biochemistry Set. Let our free on-line 3D Molecular Model Builder tool show you how it would look in "Orbit-X-peg" style.

Our advanced student organic chemistry set & class organic chemistry set can both build this vitamin chemical structure model. Use the 3D Molecular Model Builder to show you how the same molecular formula would look in "Orbit flexible" style.
