Alkenes are differentiated from alkanes in having a functional group with at least one pair of double bonded carbons. They are also the simplest compounds to show cis/trans isomerism such as the 4 stereoisomers of butene in the image. This set comes with 24 sp3 carbons and will allow you to build multiple structures simultaneously. Start learning your IUPAC nomenclature for alkenes with these straight chain alkenes: 1-decene; propene; 2-methybut-2-ene; 2-ethylbut-1-ene; 3-methylpent-1-ene. Thanks for the feedback. The rigid bonds are great for chair boat flips but eventually wear out with repeated use. The clear bonds are tougher to work with at first but eventually loosen up enough to make them easier to use. They will last over many more uses which is good if you are taking chemistry as a degree.
