Use Indigo® PTC paper test strips in lab studies of inheritance of taste genotypes, only $2.95 per 100 strips. Compare the chemical structures of PTC (also known as phenylthiourea or phenylthiocarbamide) to that of the simpler thiourea. The phenyl ring in PTC may account for the wider range of taste responses.

PTC strips are used in biology lab experiments to help explain Mendelian Polymorphism and Genetic Penetrance. Document your results to compare where you fall in the Hardy Weinberg distribution.

Details

Phenylthiocarbamide has been used for genetics experiments in biology for over 60 years; if you can taste it, you'll know the moment it touches your tongue.

You can do taste test experiments in class or as a science fair project on heredity to determine who among your friends and classmates have inherited the gene for high sensitivity and might be supertasters.

Note: Phenylthiocarbamide is present at 3 to 5 micrograms per strip & presents no safety hazard. SDS certificate is available on request.
