Indigo® chlorophenol red water leak test paper dramatically indicates the presence of water with its high contrast bright red color. They are insensitive to high humidity levels & only respond to liquid water. Single piece prices start at $2.50; save even more on quantity.

Chlorophenol red does NOT change color if the water is below pH 5.7. Cobalt chloride leak detection paper is not pH sensitive but color change is not permanent when exposed only to high humidity. Use universal pH water indicator paper for a permanent record of liquid water ingress and its pH level.

Chlorophenol red water indicator paper is available in large format 24x20" (600x500mm) in minimum order quantities 100 sheets/pack.

It likely varies quite a bit with droplet size. A small drop will have little spread compared to a large one.

I bought these for the purpose of locating hard to observe, intermittent water leaks. By strategically placing small sections of the paper in various places, I was able to monitor on a schedule rather than guessing when the leaks might happen. Now the leaks are fixed and I can monitor periodically for signs of new problems.
