Indigo® test strips can measure the acidity in fruit that is contributed mainly by citric acid. Compare apples and oranges, lemons, grapefruit, kiwi & more. Get 100 strips for only $13.95/100 strips. Use these in conjunction with our Vitamin C test strips.
It is an essential metabolite in biochemical pathways of all aerobic organisms where it acts as a food acidity regulator, a chelator, and antimicrobial. It has antioxidant properties & is used as a food flavorant and preservative, in cosmetics, and in cleaning products.
Citric acid is a weak organic tricarboxylic acid with a chemical formula of C6H8O7.& Its IUPAC name is 2-hydroxypropane-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid. You can view the citric acid molecular structure using our 3D Molecular Model Builder.
Typical shelf life of 5 years or more if kept sealed even after opening. The Indigo 0-7 pH triple pad test strips can be used for all your acid measuring & testing needs.
To determine the pH of citric acid prepare a 1% citric acid solution by dissolving 1 gram of citric acid in 100 mL of water. You can measure the measure the pH directly with Indigo pH 0-7 indicator strips. These change color based on the pH of the solution. Simply dip the strip into the citric acid solution and compare the color change to a standard pH color chart provided with the strips.
These strips are triple pad for enhanced reading accuracy. Compare all 3 pads to the color chart. The closest match of all three is the correct value. Only one or two of the 3 pads will change for any given acid level.

Makes life so much simpler. Thank you.
I'm very pleased with products I ordered. Delivery was surprisingly fast. Customer service was great and my questions were answered quickly and thoroughly.
Drinking acid, depending on the type, concentration, and quantity, can be extremely dangerous. Mild acids like citric acid found in fruits like lemons are generally safe to ingest in small amounts. They can cause discomfort if taken but are unlikely to cause significant harm unless one has a pre-existing condition like acid reflux or ulcers.
Glad we could help. For anyone curious about using triple pad pH strips, this explains further: How Do You Use a pH Test Strip?Â
